Well the canal looks nothing like the photo above now.  There was a thin layer of ice on it on Friday, which started to melt for a short while, but then became more and more solid.  The ice is now covered with a slight layer of snow.

Went to Cardiff last week from Tuesday to Thursday and did loads of Christmas shopping,  my wheely suitcase was full plus a big heavy duty shopping bag,  great fun getting it  back on the train.  Left the clothes with hubby who returned late afternoon Thursday.   I left at lunch time, mainly as there wasn't really a shop I hadn't visited and even if there was I had no room for anything else.  So as we had to check out of the hotel by noon,  didn't want to just 'hang about' till hubby finished his meetings etc.  Got off the train at Didcot and spent a couple of hours with daughter and grandson on the way past.

Saturday went down the Isle of Wight for the day,  was a little unsure because of the weather, whether we should go or not, but the reports didn't look too bad so went.  Found out afterwards that it had snowed in Ventnor from lunchtime, but not where we were so made it back that evening.

Looking out of the window as I write the snow is getting heavier, but still nothing like we had in February 2009 when it dumped 25cms on us overnight.  Still there is time yet I suppose.

Well talking about time, it is time that I got off the laptop and went to do something more constructive, maybe finish off the Christmas cards seeing as the overseas ones will have to be away soon.

  1. Sounds like you had a good day shopping in Cardiff. My handmade Christmas is coming along well now so won't have too much shopping to do this year....hurrah!

I was out by the river this morning and in parts it has iced over and stopped flowing......never seen this happen before........it's very cold here.
