Maybe it's because I am a year older since I last wrote anything on here, or maybe its the weather or just disorganisation on my part, but I just do not seem to find any inspiration to write anything on my blog at the moment.  Was a little shocked to see it was on Halloween that I last wrote the previous snippet.

Realise now that writing a blog is a bit like writing letters or emails to friends.  If you communicate every couple of days it is easy,  wait a while and then you don't know where to start.

After a lovely sunny day yesterday, have woken to a grey blustery morning and rattling windows.  The convoy of swans have gone past at full speed, probably due to the wind blowing them along as much as frantic paddling.   Did have a wander down the tow path on Monday afternoon during a respite in the weather and they passed us in single file,  as usual in the normal formation.  Mother first, 2 cygnets, Father and then the other 4 cygnets,  when they were tiny Father used to come up the rear, but has been moved forward now.  Won't be long before the cygnets leave home, and it will all start again.

Had quite an energetic weekend,  well on my standards, probably not on anyone elses.  Went for a walk from a village called Shalford on Saturday, down an old cycle path, which leads to a disused station.  I do have photos, but still can't work out how to pop them in between my text like everyone else does so efficiently.  (Partly because I still haven't worked it out even with Florrie's excellent explanation and partly as I never seem to have the time to sit and experiment).  Must get one of the family to point me in the right direction sometime.  Anyway I digress,  walk ended up to be close on 5 miles, needed a cup of tea after that.   Lots of leaves around bought thoughts of Florrie frolicking through them with OH.

Sunday it was time for the bicycles and went down the Blackwater route again as mentioned in a previous blog.  Thoughts of wet slippery leaves along the tow path was too off putting on a bike,  wobble around too much and don't fancy a swim at this time of year.

Another reason for my absence was that Mum came to stay on the 25h so that she could meet her new great grandson.  She then ended up staying for 10 days to be here on the morning of my birthday.  That meant we were out every other day for one reason or another.  Went to meet Thomas on the Tuesday - 4 generations together.  Popped into the shops on Thursday and Mum got sone Xmas bits.  Then on Saturday went on a nostalga trip around the area that my Mother was born,  she was thrilled to find the house still there and not replaced by a block of flats.  Several of the areas did have flats where houses had previously been, but mainly because the houses had been flattened in the war.  The side of the road where she had lived pre-war (had moved by then) had survived and obviously had no damage from the blasts either, so remain looking quite good for their age (1890 ish built).

Sunday all the family came for an early birthday gathering and thus Thomas had his first 'eating out' experience and kindly slept the whole 3 hours we were there thus enabling his parents to enjoy their meal in peace.

So that about covers the main events of the past 3 weeks or so.  Will try to do better from now on, but won't guarantee anything with Christmas creeping closer all the time.

Bye for now and happy blogging.

  1. How wonderful for your mum to pay a visit to her past home, and to find it unchanged.

The weather here has been very windy and wet today and I have stayed close to home and got on with a couple of bag orders.

Adding photo's on blogger is quite easy once you've done it a few times......it took me a little practise, but I'm sure you'll get there.
Lovely photo of your birthday celebration, I saw them on facebook the other day.
